Hey everyone.
My name's Bev, I'm fifteen years old, and I'm from the US. I'd like to consider myself as agnostic, but seeing as my theological views are more jumbled and confusing than ever, I don't feel comfortable with labeling myself in such a way just yet. I've been raised in a Christian household, and I am currently attending a private Christian school (which is prison, I might add). I stopped adhering to the Christian doctrine when I saw what a bigoted bitch my blind faith had transformed me into, and when I really began to examine the religion and saw all of the terribly disagreeable principles that it held. As happy as I am about not being a xtian robot anymore, it kind of sucks that I can't tell anyone (minus a select few) about it and that I have to pretend a Christian persona all of the time. Meh, life's unfair that way. Anyway, I'm looking forward to learning about other people's perspectives and further developing my own. And making some intelligent internet friends/acquaintances/whatever. |

Speaking of detestable principles how bout that Leviticus 20:13? "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman they have committed an abomination and shall be put to death." and how bout Exodus 22:18? or 2 Kings 2:23-24? Lots of love there!

Yeah, I've heard that Catholic school does things to people. I sincerely wish that parents would take the whole religious instruction thing into their own hands instead of leaving it up to some hellish institution.

Hah. The 2 Kings one is a favorite. I wish I could have people mauled by bears for flinging petty insults at me.

Ah I see you familiar with the bible, good show. _________________

Oh, I forgot one thing. In regards to this:

Uhh.. I don't know how to put this nicely... but my peers don't really help in deflating my ego, if you know what I mean. A great majority of them are so concerned about making it to heaven that they not dare question nor deviate from the Christian path at all. It's discouraging as hell to be surrounded by such people everyday.
Also, I couldn't agree more with the hell simulation thing. |

| Arizona. There are tons of atheists/agnostics in the public schools around here, but I am unfortunately not allowed to go to those anymore. And I don't know, really. All I know is that my school seems to be very Calvinistic in its beliefs. I swear, the word "predestination" has become vomit-inducing, with how much I hear it. |

Well tell them that god Predestined you to question what the brainwashed masses so readily accept as truth. _________________

| I'd in return be told that if that was the case, I'm predestined to go to hell. Lovely people, these Christian folk are. |

Hi Bev and welcome.
You are doing the right thing by suspending judgment and avoiding labeling yourself. If you are not sure, then there is no need to rush towards a label. Just be honest with yourself and examine the evidence.
I am a atheist. I was not always comfortable with that term, but I am now. I am a secularist and a naturalist. I do not believe in mysticism and supernaturalism unless evidence shows otherwise. I believe that god is a man made creation that extracts man's from his natural environment. |

Thanks. Immediately after my de-conversion, I considered myself an atheist, but it's only very recently that I have decided to remain label-free until I feel more confident in my perspectives.
Interesting beliefs. I'd say that we share some, but I'm even agnostic about being agnostic, so I'll keep my mouth shut. Oh, how troublesome this theology shit is. |

"Agnostic about being agnostic"--I love it. I have always been skeptical of the agnostic position. |
