Welcome, fellow newcomer. Any good conversion stories or funny situations to share?

Hello. When you say you are an agnostic, what do you mean by that? What is the belief that makes you an agnostic?

I'd just like to know for the sake of discussion.

Well, I grew up in the south, was raised catholic and soon came to realize that all religion is bunk. I think I'm agnostic because I just don't see any evidence of God, thus I don't know. I don't have an absolute certainty that God does not exist either. I'm definitely a skeptic. I choose to call myself a freethinker.

We're rather similar - I was also born in the south, the southeast specifically, and was raised as a Christian. I'd be willing to bet nearly everyone here was born into religion and dropped it later rather than being born atheist.

We were ALL born without belief, therefore atheist. Most here were indoctrinated at an early age.

Their attempts failed miserably in my case.

ah tink dey belibed in sumting, bub i dint no wut.

My dad had bad experiences with organized religion in his youth and was much more of a scientifically minded guy, anyways. National Geographic and NOVA were Sunday entertainment, not some leather faced man waving a book around in a cheap suit asking for money. my mother was a lazy-theist who one day actually READ the Bible and quickly decided that she could never be a christian. I was never taken to church by my parents, god/jesus never came up and the only time 'god' was ever mentioned was to answer a question about the natural world they didn't have any clue as how to answer. of course, even for a curious child, "goddidit" was extremely unsatisfying and only pushed me to research things for myself.
