I think there are molds for those numbers, cut out and applied to the pie before baking, and the pi symbol are cuts made after baking, exposing the filling. My virtual money is on boisenberry filling.

Actually, the pi cuts looks like it was made before the cooking. Also, crust tends to crack and expose the filling, so cutting gives the crust extra material to shrink.
Did I just do some pie baking physics?

I didn't bake this PI, not that I couldn't. But now it makes me want to see if the pan is available, and if not, if I can make it myself.
