I don't eat cows or pigs for this reason. Cutting out cows was easy, because I actually don't like the way they taste. Pigs was harder. I love bacon.
Ideally, I'd like to eat only farmed fish and hunted meat (along with veggies). I think hunting for food is morally better than eating farmed stuff. A deer who lives its whole life in the forest and then is shot one day has a much better life than a cow who lives on the feedlot its whole life. And it's easier on the environment. And deer taste good.
As for veganism, it is so retarded. Humans are omnivores. We need meat. It also has no moral justification. How does taking an (unfertilized) egg from a chicken harm it? Seriously. They're just being dumb. Humans are even adapted for hunting. We've evolved more endurance than any other animal so that we can just track an animal and chase it until it dies. The !Kung people still hunt this way. Meat eating is built into our very skeletal structure. _________________ Blind faith is always misplaced. |

Oooh, I'll start.
#1: You're a slave to impulse.
#2: Don't you feel bad about being a living grave, supporting a pogrom with billions of casualties annually by fiat?
#3: It doesn't really taste better. There are fine vegan alternatives to just about any murder products on the market, be it imitation crab legs made from hemp stalks or imitation Jell-O made from processed slime molds. And besides, your demand for the flesh of our biological compatriots stems entirely from societal reinforcement anyway.
That about covers it, I suppose, but I have to cut this message short now. I'm off to bomb a research facility. Ta! |

Eat locally and eat seasonally. It's entirely possible, and it's better for you, your farmer neighbors, and the planet. _________________ http://freethinkernation.com

and cows, sheep, cows and chickens everywhere thank you.
Would it make a measurable difference? Possibly if everyone stopped farming animals for food.
Do we need some meat to live? Arguable;humans are omnivorous. It does seem, animal flesh is the most efficient form of protein especially important when a person is growing. It's been argued that availability of animal protein helped the evolution of our species ' brain..
BUT ironically, the transformation of energy into animal protein is is very inefficient.
Me? I eat meat, just about anything, although I'm not fond of offal. I have meat most ,but not every day. Not more than 250gms uncooked weight ( 1/2 pound) free range chicken 4/7 days.I eat a lot of eggs.
I've reduced my meat consumption by over 70% over the last 3 years, on advice from a dietician I have no plans to further reduce my consumption further.
I guess it comes down to two basic propositions:
(1) Do honestly believe I personally can make difference? No I do not.
(2) How much do I care? In truth: I don't, at least not much. I'm 60 years old, have no offspring. I'm hoping to be gaga or dead before it reaches the point of personal inconvenience let alone hardship.
Of course I didn't always feel this way.I identified the environment as THE most important issue, including global warming, in 1980.
Imo what we are starting to do now we should have have started then. Management by crisis is very inefficient..
I did not always feel the way I do today. I really had no idea of the depth of stupidity and venality of human beings as a species.
We are are self interested animals.Individual survival is our strongest drive. Our motto "MORE!". We are where we are because of what we are. All species die, it's just a matter of when.We seem to be doing a bang up job in making our demise likely sooner rather than later.
