After reading a very intruiging article from EbonMusings, and then citing "the God Helmet", I came across the Dr. Michael Persinger--

and so I wonder, if the part of our brain that is stimulated that is made us feel like there is an etherial presence in the room, therefore making it a measurable concept, wouldn't that make our experience of god real?
Not that I'm vouching for god's existance--it doesn't seem that there is one--but still...could someone explain this "God Helmet" to me in more detail?
As an afterthought...hasn't Richard Dawkins tried on the God Helmet, lol? I'd like to see a vid, if anyone would be so gracious to provide. _________________ "It is better to keep your mouth shut and look stupid rather than open it and erase all doubt."

I remember a TV documentary with Susan Blackmore where she tried this "godHelmet", however, as I recall the documentary was actually about alien abduction.
As I recall this helmet (looked like a motor bike helmet) had coils at various positions, and applying current in various ways effected the area of the brain under them producing various sensations, most notably like something was in the room with the subject.
I believe temporal epilepsy lobe has been considered a candidate for explaining various supernatural phenomena. _________________ No religion for me thank you very much. I'm full of shit enough as it is. Jutter |
