Well im thinking (sorry if this thread has been done before)

But, how did you decide to stumble upon atheists threads/forums? what made you decide to even try and understand it?
Its a good thing that your learning about how we feel and why we reject what we do, but im curious.

Was it because a friend is Atheist?
Because you want to know if we are really that evil?
Just to learn?
To see what its like?
To consider become atheist?

I want to know Smile

I was looking for help on how to "come out" as an atheist.

I have a couple of reasons

The primary reason was I was doing research for a literature project when I saw an ad for "the god that wasn't there." I got curios and tried to find info about it. I wound up on other Atheist forums but they didn't seem to be interested in discussion so I looked for more socially inclined atheists and found this forum. A lot of people have a sense of humor here and can discuss the issues in a way that helps me understand better how atheists think.

Secondarily - My wife and I run an in-home daycare. We are double registered so we can have up to 16 kids. We keep it to about 13 kids. My wife takes care of our own kids upstairs and I get the rugrats in the basement. I get really hard up for adult conversation so fighting with an atheist is a huge stress reliever for me.

So in Summary
I wanted to understand atheism
It's much more fum to talk to somebody you disagree with than someone you agree with.

No, I don't know of any friends who are atheist.
No
Somewhat

No

I come on here to learn and read about how atheist feel about whats going on around them. In fact, I've come to notice that atheist are very logical thinkers. I don't mean that in a bad way. Its just that it seems to me that Atheist don't want to have faith because you guys want to believe what you see.

I would like to hear more if you guys don't mind. If I get any testimonies, I will share them. I know you guys are open minded, and would consider what I have to say, just as I consider what you have to say.

Yeah I find more agreement here than I did over there. Were you a poster over there?

I've been an atheist (albeit a religious one) for several years; quite recently I "converted" to pantheism. I'm not learning what you feel (I'm already familiar with various atheists stances) or what you "reject" (which fallaciously implies that all atheists reject something). Rather I'm here for conversation from a different perspective.

Religion has always been a fascinating topic for me, and so I bounce around from forum to forum discussing/ debating different aspects of it. A while ago I the forums I was currently on died down a bit, and being a giant internet whore I decided to find another one, which is why I swing by here from time to time. Having a mainly atheist (and decently intelligent) user base gives the discussions an interesting new dimension, and so every now and then something that catches my interest crops up.

not if you're a pro-life abortion doctor.

or if you start wars in the name of peace.

or if you're conservative feminist.

or if you're a Luddite with a website.
