As if we needed another sign of the coming financial apocalypse.
Maybe, maybe not. I've been hearing such dire predictions since the late 1980s/early 1990s, and it hasn't come true yet. Though I'll grant you it's long overdue.

We've known since the late 1980s that 2019 would bust Social Security. There was a recession in the late 1980s/early 1990s, so anyone saying that a recession was happening was right about that - it started and ended under Bush the first but since the recovery started in the last few months of Bush the first most of the credit went to Clinton.
Many doom-and-gloom predictions are made by Democrats saying "this will happen if you vote Republican" and made by Republicans saying "this will happen if you vote Democrat". The current round of predictions (starting in the late 1990s) is the libertarian prediction, sparing neither Bush Jr nor Clinton, and based on the Federal Reserve's inflationary policy instead of the party of the president. And, let's face it, the libertarian predictions of doom and gloom have been pretty spot-on. _________________ Nos laetus edo qui votum opprimo nobis.
