It's not like its about anything religious anyway lol

It's about presents and a fat man in red.

Excuse me, but that "superstition" is where it all originates from. http://hometown.aol.com/jesusandsue/RealMeaning.html That is the least religion related website I could find...

however, ...

1. it's not why anyone celebrates it.

2. it's all superstitious bullshit.

3. Christmas was moved to coincide with the Winter Solstice/the Saturnalia.

4. and how the hell is that the least religious one you could find? lol

5. Santa bears uncanny resemblance to Odin (a Norse god).

EDIT: Hell, the Germanic holiday Yule (as in Yuletide) had a ton of traditions that we still follow today. Yule (also known as the Winter Festival) was a Norse (pagan) holiday btw

Axial Tilt is the Reason for the Season
Winter Solstice is the Reason for the Season
etc.
I voted "yes" because I dig Christmas trees (pagan), Christmas lights (pagan), and lots and lots of presents Twisted Evil

Christmas can't be about Jesus because we know that there was no Jesus.

I celebrate the Norse/Pagan/German Yule/ what ever the fuck you'd like to call it holiday that falls about the winter solstice. The celebration of the rebirth of the sun. When the days grow longer, and the nights shorter. A holiday of renewal and hope for a coming year. My ancestors celebrated this holiday before the coming of the Romans and Christianity. We still use the Nothern European Pagan symbols in our home. (tree/yule log/wreath/roasting children on an open fire/giving gifts)
The only thing that spoils it is to see the Roman torture/execution device in the mix.

So y'all recognize it as a Christian holiday, just "secularized" into your own version?

No, we recognize it as a pagan holiday that has turned into a Christian holiday. We celebrate it for the presents and the fun, but the part about it being a Christian Holiday is very new relative to the holiday itself =P

The winter solstice is a very natural and scientific event that has nothing to do with religion (plus, it makes a kickass metaphor). It's the celebration that the days will start getting longer and there will be less hours of darkness. Even then, it's not necessarily why it is celebrated.

If you believe that Christmas originated with Christians (except for the word Christmas), then you have not done much research lol

It's a holiday for buying shit you don't need, and giving shit nobody wants. It's about stores selling as much of this crap as they can so they can stay in business the rest of the year. It's a commercial holiday that ties up traffic for a month and a half and makes everyones lives stressful as hell. There's a reason why so many people kill themselves this time of year. It's called Christmas. It is a secular holiday with little religious meaning left.

There is enough real evidence that jesus was a real person who did walk the earth. I accept the fact he was a real person, it can be proven but I do not accept all the other BS that goes along with it.

I do not celebrate christmas from any sort of religous view point though. My daughter gets a few presents and everyone else gets a merry christmas. I will spend the christmas day though with the ex-wife and her family and they are very religious but I do it for my daughter and I get a good home cooked meal.
