Christmas can't be about Jesus because we know that there was no Jesus.

I celebrate the Norse/Pagan/German Yule/ what ever the fuck you'd like to call it holiday that falls about the winter solstice. The celebration of the rebirth of the sun. When the days grow longer, and the nights shorter. A holiday of renewal and hope for a coming year. My ancestors celebrated this holiday before the coming of the Romans and Christianity. We still use the Nothern European Pagan symbols in our home. (tree/yule log/wreath/roasting children on an open fire/giving gifts)

Exactly. Call it whatever you want to, but I still enjoy my family's traditions and will continue to celebrate them. I just love giving gifts, getting together with family (well, some of them anyway) my mother's food and decorating trees...it's got nothing to with Christ, at least for me. It's also the day I was born on.

I don't know...Miss France looks pretty good on it.

Laughing Yeah I saw those pics that got her "dethroned". It wasn't like she was doing the dog or blowing goats. Go figger. I almost posted that pic yesterday, but the thought, "Gawd damn woman, EAT A SAMMICH" drove the idea out of my head.

Maybe it's the angle of the shot, but her arms look like soda straws!

I wonder if it's that shot in the pool, or this shot that got her ass canned...(pun intended)

Devil brand frosting? On the rocks? Cream of Satan? (a caption contest pic if there ever was one))

To all those who said you celebrate Christmas. The whole purpose of it is to celebrate the birth of Jesus regardless of how ignorant you may be. Yes, you can have your beliefs/not even care about the whole point of Christmas. But, thats what it was founded on,thats what the purpose today (regardless if a small population refuses to acknowledge it) and you can't change that.

Christmas is a pagan holiday.

It’s important to recognize that the date (as well as other icons such as the decorated tree) Christmas is celebrated on can be linked to a pagan holiday; however, celebrating "Christmas" is celebrating a Christian holiday, regardless of the roots that tie the date to other non-Christian holidays. If you don’t wish to be accused of celebrating a Christian holiday, it might be a good idea to personally not to call it Christmas.

Personally, I just skip on all the bullshit and waist associated with the tradition.

Around my house its the "Sea food feast". Which we just finished. yummers!
King crab/shrimp/mussles and all the trimmings.
The xians usurped the day from the Pagans.
I celebrate my daughters birth on the solstice. All the other hoopla is a just extra.

Originally, Christmas was designed to be a tradition for Christians, and more importantly Christian leadership, to rally behind. However, the holiday has been morphed and secularized so much that it has lost that meaning to a great many people, as you can tell by the comments here.

The date, as well as other iconography, was specifically chosen to supplant older pagan myths with the new state recognized myth of Jesus.

Couldn't agree with you more.

I don't celebrate stuff. It's probably the byproduct of my Jehovah’s Witness upbringing.

Some people actually study history (and it may be a small population) rather than accept fairy tales and lies that our parents and other people we grew up respecting have told us. Some people are actually able to get away from all of the brainwashing that religion brings and begin to think for themselves. You, on the other hand, are obviously completely brainwashed, have no idea what the actual history of your religion is (the extent of your studies is probably just the Bible and a few books written by other Christians about the Bible - which is the epitome of ignorance - being unlearned), and is so caught up in the lies and utter nonsense taught by religion, that you are somewhat of an (quoting Nimitz) "arrogant fuck". Your god is also the god of Judaism and the god of Islam. And by the way, your god does not exist. He is a figment of your imagination. There may be a god (but I don't believe there is), but god is certainly not the god of the big three clusterfuck of religions.
