|
|
its rare for me to find good things in religion but I think that these 18 rules might be one of those rare things.
but then again ive been following most of these before I read them. Im still pondering #18
to me all of these rules dont sound religious at all.
so what do you guys think are they good general rules for living life.

They don't sound very religious to me either.
I wonder if the Dalai Lama actually wrote this. Often things like this get attributed to the wrong people to make them look more authoritative or insightful. |

Well, they do sound fairly Buddhist to me, Buddhism isn't a "typical" religion. I have no reason to doubt that they came from the Dalai Lama. _________________ Please visit my site at www.caseagainstfaith.com featuring critiques of Lee Strobel and other apologetics

Buddhism isn't typical in what way?
To me this doesn't look particularly Buddhist at all. It's not un-Buddhist, but it's not all that distinguished as Buddhist either. It may have very well been written by the Dalai Lama, but it's likely written for a Western audience. People who don't have real problems. I'd love to see him apply number 16 "Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before," to his starving, ignorant theocracy in Tibet. That is, of course, if he still had one. |

I have been, to some degree, continuously enthralled with a few idealisms stemming from Tibet's enigmatic past. _________________ This space is reserved for inarticulate meat puppets who have no true perspective outside the refuge of quotation marks.

your probably right. he probably quoted someone else who quoted someone else and so on and so forth. until the person who originally said it is then referred to as "a wise man" _________________ "Once you have flown, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward; for there you have been, there you long to return."

It doesn't sound religious because Buddhism focuses on spiritual enlightenment _________________ "Heaven is an American salary, a Chinese cook, an English house, and a Japanese wife.
