The place is great, though I am still unpacking.
The job, so far, is great too. They haven't wasted any time getting me to work. I had to go out of my way to make time to set up my email and voicemail stuff. I literally began my first day in a meeting to discuss how we're going to go about commercializing a specific application.
Holy fuck, do they ever have a high opinion of me. Not that it's unwarranted, but I just started and I'm already feeling the pressure - which is GOOD. I've worked for far too many companies who had brilliant ideas but no drive or resources to make them a reality - an actual product that DOES something, rather than an intellectual curiousity. I think things will be different here, at least I hope they will.
Haven't made any friends (or enemies) yet, but did sign up for the next Boston atheists meetup. Hopefully I'll get some social networking going soon - though I may have to keep my hatred of Boston sports teams on the downlow for a time to come.
Cheers,
and feel free to say how much you all missed me over the last few days |
How awesome is it that you moved to a town rich in American history during the 4th of July? It's good to hear you are adjusting well and no one has had to stop you from chicken choking an extra from Good Will Hunting. Post pictures when you have a chance! |

Well, the only girl my age at work invited me out for drinks after work tonight. She is fairly cute, though she is involved, but I did get introduced to a lot of her friends (one of which was relocating to Canada, and hence the get together) at a really cool martini pad this evening.
The place was definitely to my tastes - basically set up as a Moraccan opium den, but with matini service - and only 4 miles from my place (good thing since I had three straight Bombay Sapphire martinis and probably was a little questionable on whether I should be driving or not.).
I think I'll pick up a new camera this weekend or the next at the latest and post a few pics. The view from my balcony is kick ass and I can fish at the pond in said view - I bought a fishing liscense today at lunch (one of my favorite hobbies).
I still need some furniture, like a breakfast nook kind of table and a decent computer desk set up, but there are a few furniture stores in the neighborhood I plan on checking out this weekend.
Right now, I have a decent buzz on, and intend to keep drinking and fucking around with my online familly for the remainder of the evening.
Tomorrow, I'm going to venture into the city by light rail and get the lay of the land and hopefully check out some museums and shopping - and of course get a pint at the Bull & Finch (the Cheers bar).
Life is good, and looking to get better.

| Furniture: Craigslist. Type in the neighborhood you live in for a search, so you don't have to go too far and look for garage sales. Also, order an Ikea catalog. Don't get anything from them that you are going to use a lot of. Just end tables, book shelves, etc. Nothing you are going to sleep or sit on. They are inexpensive but kinda flimsy. Here is a store near you. |

Mighty!
How was the 4th in Boston? I imagine it would be off the hook, since Boston was basically the birth place of the American Revolution. _________________ Namaste,

Does Boston have an Ikea? If so, you should really consider checking them out for your computer desk, kitchen table or even little knick knack household items. Most of their stuff is simple and affordable, perfect for anyone balling on a budget. Congrats on the move and the new job! Sounds like you have a perfect little setup with the pond and the new place. _________________ This space is reserved for inarticulate meat puppets who have no true perspective outside the refuge of quotation marks.
