How is it that people can be born again with religion? Is that when they aren't involved with religion, then they 1 day wake up and decide to believe in the bull shit again? I thought about this and I keep thinking that there has to be some outside source pushing the person or is forcing the person to keep coming out to listen to the bullshit. I mean for example once you get to church because you are 'curious" everyone who is there are like vultures. They lash on to you and prey. I mean they are saying how great it is and you need to come out all the time.

I would say the fear of death or maybe because there so many people who believe in it that they think there must be something to it. _________________ "If people are good only because they fear punishment, and hope for a reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed." Albert Einstein

Yeah, that is the problem with the United States, don't get me wrong, I love this country, but with all the knowledge we have, we shouldn't be the most religious country in the world. Hell, I'm thinking how great living in Sweden would be because of 85% atheist/agnostics. _________________ "It ain't the parts of the Bible that I can't understand that bother me,

I most definitely concur...Here a few good quotes I got from this atheist site.

"Men never commit evil so fully and joyfuly as when they do it for religious convictions"
-- Blaise Pascal
"The way to see by faith is to shut the eye of reason." - Benjamin Franklin
"The church says the earth is flat, but I know that it is round, for I have seen the shadow on the moon, and I have more faith in a shadow than in the church."
--Ferdinand Magellan

I think one of the reasons people are "born again" is the amount of people that are members of an organized religion. People tend to go with the flow.
Another possible reason is knowledge. People want to know everything. They want to know where they go when they die. They want the meaning of life. God gives all the "answers". _________________ VERITAS OMNIA VINCIT

Maybe they just mean their faith has been born again. They used to have faith, lost it, but it came back. I don't really know _________________ "If God doesn't like the way I live, let him tell me, not you."-Anonymous

In that case, my **** is born again, so are most of my fingers, thumbs, toes...
Seriously though, the phrase "born again" has almost nothing to do with the context of the first post of this thread. It's a "spiritual rebirth" in which "you" die and "Christ becomes alive in you". Just to define our terms. |

you can only be 'born again' once...after that, you're doomed...it's in Hebrews somewhere...my brother the christian pointed it out to a bunch of jehovah's witnesses or something that were trying to talk to him about faith in his store (he already said he was 'born again')...it was hilarious....I'm proud my brohter is, to an extent, knowledgable about the Bible and the religion...he doesn't go to church but he follows the word if that makes any sense to you guys...he's a really cool guy but can be a total bonehead and a jackass sometimes but when are brothers not? _________________ I is dsylexic.

Do you never change your mind?
Have you never had a problematic relationship with a gf or bf, who you just kept coming back to, after breaking up with them?
It isn't any different.

| I agree with Mr_C's definition so there is no coercion necessary since being born again can happen anyplace anytime. |
