People of faith often get tattoos showing support for their beliefs. I had a similar urge except getting one that shows my non-faith.
The problem is all the atheist symbols I've seen are lame - the atomic structure is...ya. It's the symbol for the atom - not defiance and resilience to evangelicals. I want something that says I'm a proud and strong atheist - not that I want the Nobel prize for physics.
I think that symbols are important for people and societies - regardless of their faith views. I was hoping to collect some ideas on a symbol that all non believers can stand around similar to the cross and Christians.

Two crossed middle fingers with thumbs for a bridge. That's a good gang sign, if nothing else. _________________ Those who don't believe in evolution haven't benefited from it.

I have been looking over a number of suggested symbols over the last several months. The only thing I dislike about the ghostbustered cross is that it uses a christian symbol and only the christian symbol.
I like the idea of the circle - I think alot of internet atheist try to get too cute with the symbols and try to have them resemble science or math in some fashion. Having a simple symbol that people would know (such as the cross) is something I was searching for.
I guess the more I think about it and discuss it with my friends the more and more a simple circle makes sense and has nothing to do with any specific religion or belief system. |

That was a winning symbol from a convention if I'm not mistaken. I do have an issue with it reminding me of Star Trek followers or the symbol for anarchist Symbol. I just wish there was a uniform symbol that was accepted by atheist and recognized by people of religions.
