I would not say I'm religious... I would simply tell you that I have a relationship with God. Christian is not a religion, religion is the belief and worship of a god, Christianity, though often practiced as a religion is actually a relationship.

Honestly, where the hell do they come up with this stuff? Do Xtians have some sort of fallacy making machine we don't know about?

Trying to be clever? The keyword there is, "before". As in, have you heard the argument BEFORE I mentioned it.

I think you're trying to be "clever" by turning this into a pointless debate when you're already, or should be, well aware that my statement was semantically correct within the context given. You can't add a qualifier post hoc then turn around and go "nuh uh," it's fucking stupid. I guess you're itching to start a fight, aren't you? Shew, who woulda though you were so hot blooded.

Not only that, I read the contents of your thread before I read your title. So that's double-plus-good, isn't it?

Dang Dawk, you turn every thread into violence. Are you doing it on purpose, or just a side effect of Intelligence ? Razz

I don't see how greyghost's inability to be jocular with my comments is my fault. Had anyone else made that statement the probability of him acting like a fucktard would probably had been nonexistent.

Maybe because you added no indication that you were joking? An "lol" or smiley would have done wonders. I do apologize for the reply if you were joking.

Dawk, seriously? I assume this is somehow moloth's fault right? He brainwashed me into thinking that you were just a plain 'ole troll didn't he? Honestly if you have read any of the few comments I have made about you, you would know that I reserved judgment (to the best of my ability) as to whether you were a troll or not simply because you DO at times make very valid arguments. For you to turn around and say that I am, in effect, picking on you is ridiculous.

And for the record, no it didn't matter one iota that it was you that said it as oppose to anyone else.

But to try not to turn this into a "lets talk about dawk" thread (if for no other reason then the fact that there are enough of those as it is), I'll list the following "arguments" I've heard from Xtians.

"Slavery is mentioned and supported in the bible simply because God wanted to set down laws on how to treat slaves at the time. This was so they will not be abused."

"Ditto on women being beaten or killed if raped."

"God conquers all. Whether you follow him or not. This is why war is depicted in the bible and why God supported the jews."

So? You overreacted to a statement instead of asking for clarification when you didn't understand the content. I didn't think many people would have reacted as retardily as you but obviously I'll have to rethink my policy on the forecast of possible retardisms from persons you least expect them. You're not civil enough, or proper enough just to apologise oh no, you have to launch straight from your apology into a pissy tirade against me below:

Because obviously since I didn't mention these key terms it makes perfect sense to respond with this half-sarcastic reply trying to give you some standing ground and make me look silly.

No, I said that the probability of you acting like a fucktard toward me is higher than many others here. I hardly talk to you and You don't know of me like you know of the other people here on AF, of course, you're not going to well understand my speech craft and thus are more likely to misunderstand or jump the gun- Like you're doing right now, acting like an irrational fool totally blowing this thing out of reality.

Of course it did, because you lack the ability to understand my character and manner of speech because of the limited exchanges we have had.

Shew, just I don't like playing this silly drama games so don't drag me in.

Why waste your time on him, seriously... dawk has already shown himself to be a fucktard this thread, just let it go at that... most of the thread will reconize it.

As for this argument... yes, I have heard it, and no, it makes no sense what so ever.

So... you DONT worship the lord your god? Isn't that what he CREATED mankind to do? Did I miss the mento pulled out of some ones shitter that its no longer, "Worship God", but "Be God's Happy Clappy Friend!"?

Those "sacred" books, like the bible or the quran, are books that were written by people in a particular time period, addressing the problems of that time, with the limited knowledge these writers had, with a certain agenda that often escapes us.

So anyone who quotes passages for "the" book, I often retort, "that was centuries ago, what about today's problems, what do you think..." or something along that line. If the person is really interested, has a modicum of intelligent, I'll get a good response. If not, I know I'm talking to an asshole, and I'll just make a joke and either change the conversation or walk away.

LOL
"It's a personal relationship my my lord and savior, Jesus Christ"
I don't like to debate this point with people because the ones that claim this will hold tight to the delusion that Jesus actually speaks audibly to them, usually in a loving way. At least that's what people have told me lately.

It's funny, though. You never hear the pastor at church going, "You know when you're having a really good conversation with God and you just can't get a word in edge-wise?".

No, this guy claims it is only with God. As in YVWH. Not with Jesus.

Honestly? I use the argument that if Christianity isn't a religion by that standard, then there is no such thing as religion at all. What is to stop a Hindu from stating they have a personal relationship with Vishnu?

LOL
Maybe one of them don't know when to shut up and let the other speak?

Wow, how do you manage to be such a tremendous asshole? (In case it isn't obvious to you Dorkadongle, this is a rhetorical question.)
