Did you guys watch that vid that HBA posted with that dude who said the New Atheists Movement is doomed? He said you can't unite on a negative.

Yeah. I commented on it. I think I actually agree with the guy. But I also think it's healthy that people like Dawkins and Harris are spreading awareness about atheism, too.

I think his most recent sig tells the story - he got fed up with us 'mericans. *shrugs*

I doubt it.

Thick skin, and enjoys heckling. Not like him to give up a hobby.
He'll be back.

i sincerely hope so. if he leaves behind the "American is Satan" and "everyone who disagrees with me is a moron/troll/NeoCon/etc..." attitudes, more the better.

That does not leave much scope then.
Still, there is the emoticon: Rolling Eyes to use.

Holy crap! I didn't even realize that. I don't think anyone has used that emoticon since he's gone. What? Did he have exclusive rights or something? Does he get royalties if anyone else uses it?

The Rick Copeland suggests caution. You would not want him to come after you with the mounties in tow for copyright infringement...

Not talking

"Nigger" is not okay. But "cunt" is okay. Gotcha.

Come on, don't you know when someone solely uses an emoticon, it implies silliness? I was just trying to spread more guilt to you guys as I've done so well around here recently. Forgive me? Flowers For You

This afternoon, over Chinese, I discovered that my sister had forgotten the bag with the hot and sour soup and egg rolls. I then called her "Countess Cunticulla of the Cuntalopers".

No worries. Though my skin is soft and kissable, it's still pretty thick.

What an odd coincidence. I've spoken that exact same sentence on occasion.

No. I was in HBA's neck of the woods and the officer said "Howdy son, let's see your little ol' license and regi...holy shit boy! Put that thing away. This is the South. Nobody wants to see that here, lemme tell you what. Just pass over your license and registration and leave that other nonsense for them boys up North. They take more kindly to that sort of tomfoolery."

So no. I still had to pay the 50 bucks. Nice man, though.

I will butt in, and give you my thoughts, even though it seems you address this post specifically to Infidelguy. If I may, here's my 'rant'

First. I would like to say it is cool what you have going here in terms of what you have accomplished in respects to who you have reached. 2nd. I hate the wife swap show (lol) they are there to video the worst in everyone. I know you were on it altho I did not see it. Now let me begin.

Lets me start by saying that I am a Christian. Here is alittle about me. I was saved about 5 years ago when I was 26. I consider my self an infant Christian who certainly does not have all the answers. I was not raised in a Christian home, infact my family was dysfunctional at best. I did not believe in God, however I wanted to. I liked the idea of living for ever. I like the idea of being able to see my loved ones who passed. That ended up being my motivation for seeking, or atleast part of it. I ended up Marrying a virgin girl at the age of 24. She was a devout Christian but was in a period of her life when she was back sliding. So it was safe to say when we got married I didn't realy know her. A year into our marrige she decided to go all in on the Christian thing leaving me scratching my head. It caused alot of trouble as we would before that smoke pot and carry on in ways that we prolly shouldn't. When she did her about face it left me still wanting to party and she was now walking the straight and narrow. We faught alot and she would just turn and walk away and go read the Bible. That would set me in a fit of rage. I became fed up with the religion and what little desire there was in me to be a Christian evaperated wery quickly. Then during one fight I went off the deep end critisizing Christianity and I told here that I was going to set out to prove that there was no god and more or less that she was an idiot for believing such crap. I did, however, know that to prove that the truth was infact that there was no god that I had to have an open mind. I wanted to be fair so that when I found that there was no god I could say I search honestly and the I would have enough ammo to just unload on her. Then we could get back to the lifestyle that I perferred. To make a long story short I found (what I believe to be the) truth. This is what I have found:

God does exist and although I have never seen him, touched him, nor heard him with my ears the evidince of him is in everything I see and those who have always known me can see it in my changed life. To this day I still seek truth. Evidence that there is or isn't a god is still good evidence if it leads to the ultimate truth whatever it may be and I want to know.

A person's personal experience has no bearing on the existence of something whatsoever. You are sincere, you are speaking frankly and honestly. Yet sincerity has no bearing on the truth on of a claim, only on the reputation of the person making the claim. An analogy, I can claim that pee cures and prevents cancer, and drinking it everyday may give me a level of comfort or assurance that I wouldn't get when I am completely skeptical, it does not mean pee does prevent cancer. That's what religious belief is - and that is what faith is - assurance in the hoped for, and conviction for things unseen and unproved.

Quote:
I simply ask for respect. Please no flaming. I am intrested in all points of view altho I admit I favor mine as you do yours. I think it is wrong to force your (or my) belief on anyone. If you do that I think your are violating that person's right to choose. If the ultimate goal is to convert a person forcing you opinions on them does more harm than good. Therefor I want you to talk to me as if you are trying to convert me. I have a very good friend that is a pastor and I would like to run good points by him when I am stumped.

I would rather have honesty, than pin my convictions on the emotional blackmail of offending someone. I will say what is in my heart when circumstance dictates that I have to, I apologize for the offense it might cause, and I intend no harm, but I humble myself in the harm that it might cause. That's what I adhere to.

Quote:
If I were a Christian (which I am) I would try to lead my child(ren) towards Christ. Even if there were no god if a person lives a truely godly life then I believe that person leaves a possitive influence on every person around them as long as that person does not force his opinions and believes on others.

A person can be decent, loving, kind in an extraordinary way, without holding to the concept of being "godly" which is itself meaningless once you remove it's moral significance. Why don't give up this useless idea, and just stick to heart of the matter, doing good for the sake of doing good?

Quote:
If I were a true atheist I wouldn't worry about teaching anything. For if there is no god why spend my time fooling with silly things that do not exist. However if my child(ren) became a believer in a peaceful faith I still would not offer my beliefs as long as it was a positive influence.

Because atheists have a moral obligation to teach people that they can live a meaningful life without the idea of God. Face it, everything would be almost the same, regardless whether people believed in God or not (but I really believe problems would be less without God)

Millions use God to justify murder. Why should we unbelievers turn our backs on this? For a Christian, you should know better.
